Q2. Sound Troubleshooting : General 1
A2. Please try the following procedure if you would like to identify the problem you are experiencing:
a) Try to record your voice by using the recording software like a sound recorder.
If your voice has recorded, then the settings of the audio device of your PC are correct.
If it has not recorded, please check the items under : Control Panel > setting the sound and audio device
> voice tab.
b) Please check your voice by Skype.
First of all, call "echo123" by Skype.
When you hear the lady's voice directing you to automatically to record your message on Skype, record your message.
If you can hear your message correctly about 10 seconds later from Skype, it means that microphone and speaker are working correctly.
If you do not hear the message, it means that there is a problem with the setting, the device or the Internet.
In that case, please try following procedure.
- Re-start Skype.
- Uninstall Skype and install Skype again.
- Re-start your PC.
- Log out of the software regarding sound or a messenger other than skype.
- Change setting of sound device.
Q3. Sound Troubleshooting: General 2 – Memory Problems
A3. If you cannot transfer your voice to your teacher, or the software of the classroom does not work well, your PC might have not enough memory.
Following actions are methods to keep memory:
- Close applications that are not related to the lesson.
- If there is a big file on the desktop of your PC, move it to another folder (ex. MyDocument).
- Restart your PC. After re-starting, close start-up programs not related to the lesson.
Q4. Sound Troubleshooting: General 3 - How to uninstall and install Skype
A4. If you think that your Skype is not stable, we recommend you to un-install it and then install it again. In this case, your Skype contact list wil be kept but the chat history will be erased.
Q5. Sound Troubleshooting 1: I cannot hear the sound at all.
A5. There is a possibility that your microphone or sound device is not working; so, please check the following: confirm connection of the microphone and earphone plugs of the headset.
Q6. Sound Troubleshooting 2: Volume is low.
A6. In the case that the sound on the teacher’s side has a low volume, increase the volume setting of your audio device, and check if the setting is mute.
In the case that the teacher says that your voice volume is small, increase the volume of your microphone.
If you cannot solve the problems with these actions, please re-start your PC.
Q7. Sound Troubleshooting 3: The Sound Is Unclear
A7. Please take the following actions to keep memory:
- Check the connection of the headset to the PC.
- Close applications not related to the lesson.
- If there is a big file on the desktop of your PC, move it to another folder (ex. MyDocument).
- Restart your PC. After re-starting, close start-up programs not related to the lesson.
If the Internet speed is low, it may be the reason behind this problem.
Q8. Sound Troubleshooting 4: Echo or Howling in the Sound.
A8. If you are using a microphone and a speaker, we recommend you to switch to a headset.
Please take also actions to keep the memory of your PC.
Q9. Sound Troubleshooting 5: There is time difference on the sound.
A9. In case of voice communication by PC, it requires increased processing speed of your PC.
If possible, you should improve the performance of the CPU and memory of your PC.
Q10. I want to check my Skype sound. What should I do?
A10. First of all, call "echo123" by Akype.
When you hear the lady's voice telling you to automatically to record your message on Skype, then record your message. If you can hear your message correctly about 10 seconds later on Skype, it means that the microphone and speaker are working correctly.
If you do not hear the message, it means that there is a problem with the setting, the device or the Internet line.
In that case, please try following procedures.
- Re-start Skype.
- Uninstall Skype and install Skype again.
- Re-start your PC.
- Log out of applications that use sound and other instant messaging applications other than Skype.
- Change the settings of the sound device.
Q11. Does a firewall or other security software influence a Skype call?
A11. Skype has an option that you can choose so that it will not be affected by firewalls or security software, different from MSN messenger. So, open up its settings in case of trouble.
